As the day fades and night descends, all artificial lights become more intense.
The precise moment when these two colourful atmospheres meet has always fascinated me.
The very first photograph in this series dates back to 1997.

This is a self-portrait in the intimacy of my studio in Berlin. I stand before an open window at dusk. A red light, opaque, surrounds me and obscures my face. This interplay of blurring and sharpness is achieved using a specific focus and it became my modus operandi, although it would take me several years to develop what would become “Entre Chien et Loup”.
